Tips for Attending a Business Convention

If you happen to work for a big company, then chances are you are required to travel from time to time. And there’s a good possibilities that one of those trips will be to a business convention.

These conferences are ideal for meeting other people; they also offer incredible opportunities for networking.  So if you’re getting ready to go on one of these trips, consider purchasing a business card scanner

With a pocket size business card scanner you won’t have to worry about misplacing someone’s card or having to type in all the information into your computer.  The days of long hours inputting data are over.  Nowadays, modern technology allows you to take all the stored cards from your business card scanner and download them onto your P.C. in a matter of seconds.

Surely you’ll also be handing out your card to others; and it’s more than likely they too will be using the latest high tech gadgets to save time.  Having a small size apparatus to store all the cards you collect will certainly be of much help when you get back to the office; you’ll be able to devote your time to making sales calls, re-connecting with people you’ve met or designing new marketing strategies.  In the olden days you’d have to sit at your desk for hours, and type in a long list of names, addresses and phone numbers.

So now that you have that part covered, proceed with booking your hotel accommodations.  If possible, try to stay at the hotel that’s designated as the event location.  If it’s already full, opt for one that’s not too far from there.  Note that these places usually give attendees better rates.  And if the gathering is to be held at a convention center, inquire about shuttles to and from.

When attending a trade show, obtain one of the floor plans that are issued in advance.  Plan on visiting several of the exhibits and make a list of the products and services that may be right for your customers.  If possible, set up appointments with the booth organizers; this way you won’t have to fight the crowds to obtain the information you need.

Pack light, but anticipate every situation; i.e. you may have to do a lot of walking, so dress professional though comfortable.

Make the most of your business trip and don’t forget the business card scanner.
